We follow Region Skåne’s basic maternal health care program, with the option of additional support based on your needs and preferences. In addition to the basic program, we offer an extra midwife visit in week 20 and an extra ultrasound in week 32. Click on the respective week to read more about the visits.
Health Consultation
The prenatal consultation—your first visit with a midwife—usually takes place between weeks 4 and 8. We’ll talk about how you’re feeling, your health, and whether you have any medical conditions. If needed, we’ll refer you to a psychologist or dietitian.
During this appointment, you will also be offered a blood test (TSH) to check your thyroid function
Admissions Interview
We'll go over your pregnancy in more detail and plan your ongoing care.
We'll check your blood pressure and take some tests, and we'll talk about how you're feeling—both physically and mentally.
You'll receive information about prenatal testing and ultrasounds, as well as help scheduling an appointment at Emmkliniken.
During this visit, a gynecological exam is also available if you wish. For example, it may be helpful to assess your pelvic floor muscle strength or perform a Pap test, if applicable.

First-Trimester Ultrasound Emmakliniken

A more comprehensive ultrasound that assesses the baby's development and anatomy, as well as the position of the placenta and the amount of amniotic fluid.

Additional visits upon request orasneeded in weeks 20–21 (according to RUL)
A follow-up visit after the ultrasound. This is a time to talk about experiences, feelings, questions, and concerns that may have arisen since your last visit or in connection with the ultrasound.
We check blood pressure, measure the abdomen, and listen to the baby's heartbeat.
