Prenatal Diagnosis

Prenatal testing is a general term for tests that can provide information about the pregnancy and the fetus’s development. We’re here to provide you with information and guidance so you can make the decision that feels right for you.

What can we do for you?

Our prenatal diagnostic services offer safe and thorough examinations for you and your child.

Early Ultrasound

Early ultrasound may be offered as needed, for example:

  • if there is uncertainty regarding the date of the last menstrual period
  • in cases of bleeding during early pregnancy
  • Are you thinking about getting  NIPT?

Ultrasound During Pregnancy

In Region Skåne, pregnant women are routinely offered two ultrasound examinations:

  • Weeks 11–14: First-trimester ultrasound (including KUB)
  • Weeks 18–20: Second-trimester ultrasound (routine ultrasound, RUL)

In addition to these, further ultrasounds may be necessary during pregnancy, for example, if the uterus is not growing as expected or if additional monitoring is needed.

Where are the ultrasounds performed?

Our ultrasound exams are primarily performed in collaboration with Emma Ultrasound Clinic.
